Lettuce frisee "Americana Bruna"
Leaf Lettuce "Amerikanischer Brauner" (Americana Bruna).
A crunchy variety that regrows quickly: "Cut and eat all summer"!
An early variety of leaf lettuce (Batavia type), ready for harvest in 50-60 days. Distinguished by high decorativeness and delicate taste.
Variety Characteristics.
Leaves: Crunchy, slightly wavy, beautiful greenish-red (bronze) colour.
Feature: The variety works on the principle of "cut — grew again". Picked leaves regrow quickly, providing a harvest all season long.
Conditions: Loves sunny places, suitable for greenhouses and open ground.
1.0 g = 800-1100 seeds.
MASTER CLASS: Intercropping and Agrotechnics.
1. Companion for cucumbers and tomatoes:
Lettuce is an ideal intercrop for greenhouses. It is sown 2-3 days before planting cucumber/tomato seedlings. Scheme: two strips along the sides of the bed (80-100 cm wide). This allows rational use of the area before the main crops grow.
2. Rules for cutting and watering:
• Harvest lettuce in the evening or early morning (while the plant is cool) to keep it fresh longer.
• Cut the rosette at the soil surface, leaving a "stump" (crown) of at least 1 cm for regrowth.
• Important: When planting, the root collar must be at soil level. If buried or watered directly, the lower leaves will rot.
3. The secret of Head Lettuce (Note):
If you grow head varieties instead of leaf ones, the main reason for the lack of a head is overcrowding.
Thinning #1: At the 1st leaf stage (leave 10-12 cm).
Thinning #2: After 2 weeks (leave 20-25 cm). Surplus plants can be transplanted as intercrops to other vegetables.
